Living Faith was created through a vision of the Iowa District West of the LCMS and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in West Des Moines.
In 1994 Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church established a second ministry site built on 10 acres of land south of Hickmann Road on 142nd street in Clive, IA. The pastors at Shepherd of the Valley served both sites. In August of 2000, Pastor Mark E. Krause was called to serve as the site pastor at Clive. On January 6, 2002, it was decided at the annual meeting that it was time for the Clive site to be launched into a new church. On July 1, 2002 Living Faith Lutheran Church was established as a new congregation in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
